These handmade wooden buttons were created by my husband Jeff in buckthorn wood. This wood is naturally this bright, cheery yellow color- I love it! We got our buckthorn wood from the Midwest, where it is invasive. I love the rings of growth and the natural bark around the edges. Jeff sands and polishes these buttons until they're smooth, you'll love the way they feel. These buttons went through process to help keep the bark on, more on that below. Pictured with grey yarn, these buttons would go well with many different colors.

*The yew wood buttons in this particular set of buttons has gone through a process to keep the bark on. A note from Jeff: "A lot of folks like the look of buttons with the bark still on them, but this isn't possible with most woods because the bark will come off right away. So I came up with a method of adhering the bark with a special inert (non-toxic) adhesive that permeates the bark then holds it to the main wood. Any adhesive on the surface of the button is then sanded and polished off. This gives a really nice look especially with Hemlock and Sassafras."

~Care Instructions~ Care for these buttons as you would wool: hand wash garment in cool water and lay flat to dry. If the wood should dry out from washing, a little walnut oil (or other natural oil) on a soft cloth works well to moisturize them. Oiling them will keep your buttons beautiful and protect them from drying out.
