This wooden button was created by my husband Jeff in diamond willow. Diamond willow is such a beautiful wood to begin with and then Jeff made this button even more amazing by placing the turquoise inlay on the darker center of the wood, making the tree a deeper hue with a lighter hue making a border around the outside. Then having the natural bark around the outside gives that dark outer border that really makes the whole design pop and the turquoise color really stand out. (The bark might come off over time, even though the wood has gone through a process to keep the bark on, but we've found it to hold up well. More on the process below.)
Jeff created this tree design, which I adore. He sanded and polished the wood so smooth, you'll love the way it feels. Jeff has been working on his inlay technique for many years. (A note: we have not tried washing these buttons yet, so wash them at your own risk. These buttons would be well suited for projects that don't require washing.)
Pictured with brown yarn, this button would pair nicely with many different colors.

This unique tree button was made with love and we hope you'll love it! Ready for your special project!

Measurements: Between 1.25 and 1.5 inches wide. (Closer to 1.25)

*This particular set of buttons has gone through a process to keep the bark on. A note from Jeff: "A lot of folks like the look of buttons with the bark still on them, but this isn't possible with most woods because the bark will come off right away. So I came up with a method of adhering the bark with a special inert (non-toxic) adhesive that permeates the bark then holds it to the main wood. Any adhesive on the surface of the button is then sanded and polished off. This gives a really nice look especially with Hemlock and Sassafras."

....

Beautiful wood + lots of sanding + natural oil finish + polishing on the buffing wheel + a whole lotta love = some gorgeous buttons for your special projects.

~Care Instructions~ Care for these buttons as you would wool: hand wash garment in cool water and lay flat to dry. If the wood should dry out from washing, a little walnut oil (or other natural oil) on a soft cloth works well to moisturize them. Oiling them will keep your buttons beautiful and protect them from drying out.
