These earrings were created by my husband Jeff in one of our very favorite woods of all time- mountain mahogany. Mountain mahogany is just gorgeous! The colors can have such a wide range, and this batch has what I would call unique speckling in it. I love the different colors in the grain of these earrings, and the natural bark along the bottom. And I love the shape.
Jeff sands and polishes the earrings so smooth, you'll love the way they feel. All the sanding and polishing also brings out the beauty of the wood, and makes it glow.
The wood also has a fun story- it came from a woodworking friend of Jeff's who drove along at just the right time to save the wood- a power company had cut the tree down from under the lines and were going to throw the wood out. He saved the wood thankfully, so it could be made into such beautiful things rather than chipped up.
(Many of our earrings are surprisingly lightweight, even in the denser woods, but our earrings in mountain mahogany are not our most lightweight earrings. If you are looking for our most lightweight earrings, the smaller size earrings and earrings in cedar wood are a good option.) These earrings come on sterling silver plated ear wires.
Made for the nature lover, may they bring you joy every time you wear them!
Measurements: 5/8 inch wide, 1 & 7/8 inches tall.
These earrings gone through a process to help keep the bark on, more on that below.

*This particular pair of earrings has gone through a process to keep the bark on. A note from Jeff: "A lot of folks like the look of buttons with the bark still on them, but this isn't possible with most woods because the bark will come off right away. So I came up with a method of adhering the bark with a special inert (non-toxic) adhesive that permeates the bark then holds it to the main wood. Any adhesive on the surface of the button is then sanded and polished off. This gives a really nice look especially with Hemlock and Sassafras."
