This handmade wooden shawl pin (or hair pin) was created by my husband Jeff in Oregon myrtlewood. Myrtlewood is a special (and beautiful wood) that grows in southern Oregon and northern California, along the coast. I love the designs in the grain of this wood.
This is a one-of-a kind creation- very unique. This is a different style than we usually offer, with a curved shape, and it's the only one like this that Jeff ever made! It took extra time and energy to make this one. When he was making this, his first thought was a hair pin- it would be so cool for that! He also thought it could make a unique shawl pin. What you use it for is up to you!
He sands and polishes the wood so smooth, you'll love the way it feels. All the sanding and polishing also brings out the beauty of the wood, and makes it glow. After sanding and carving, he burned a celtic knot design into the wood. The shawl pin stick is pointed at one end to go through knitted fabric more easily. Shown with grey yarn, it would pair beautifully with many different colors.
Measurements: 5.5 inches wide along the curved. Shawl pin stick is 5 inches long.
....
Beautiful wood + lots of sanding + natural oil finish + polishing on the buffing wheel + a whole lotta love = some gorgeous shawl pins for your special projects.
